Ukrainian agritech entrepreneur and a Year 11 student active in building the future of sustainable technologies join E Tipu 2022 lineup

E Tipu summit speakers represent a vast and varied group, but above all, they have one clear focus: how can we support our food and fibre sectors to succeed?

Here’s the latest round of remarkable speakers confirmed as joining us at the 2022 summit.

Michael Utkin’s mission in life is to spread smart agriculture innovations to farmers all over the world with the help of technology. For more than 20 years, he has worked in senior management positions in the spheres of software, social entrepreneurship and energy. Now, at FieldBee, Michael leads a team of farmers and engineers who facilitate the transition to more efficient and sustainable farming — with a 40-person R&D department in Kyiv.

In March of 2022, Michael joined Boma founder and CEO Kaila Colbin in a virtual discussion on his story as a business owner having to deal with a situation nobody trains for: caring for his team, his business and his community as the bombs begin to fall. At E Tipu 2022 he’ll be providing an update on his story on navigating the unfathomable.

Also joining the E Tipu 2022 speaker lineup is Charlie Trumm. Charlie is a Year 11 student at Cashmere High School in Ōtautahi Christchurch and a member of the Cashmere Space Club — a team made up of four students recently named named as a finalist in the Space for Planet Earth Challenge. This international competition rewards innovative ideas leveraging satellite data to solve specific problems in the realm of Earth and space sciences.

The goal for Charlie and his team in the challenge was to find ways to help improve coral reef health using satellite technology. They focused on the impacts shrimp farming has on coral reef ecosystems through mangrove destruction, and plan to develop an education programme to help influence decision-making around coral ecosystems. Charlie will introduce their project at E Tipu 2022, and speak to the passion and wonder he and his team have for the future of sustainable technologies.

Founded in 2019, E Tipu brings together a carefully curated lineup of speakers and experts to ignite vital conversations, deliver eye-opening insights, and drive meaningful change.
