Grassroots visionary tackling big policy challenges, climate tech investor and renowned agricultural specialist added to the E Tipu 2022 lineup

Set for 21-22 June in Ōtautahi Christchurch and virtually, this year’s E Tipu agri summit again does Aotearoa proud — showcasing extraordinary insights from over 25 local and global leaders in food and fibre.

Newly announced as joining the summit lineup is Ministry for Primary Industries CTO Jenny Cameron. Appointed in February 2022, Jenny’s focus is driving the roadmap for accelerating the productivity, sustainability and inclusivity potential of the primary sector to 2030.

Jenny is motivated to understand the social drivers behind the big policy challenges, and how business, community and government can collaborate to get better solutions for people at the grassroots. At E Tipu 2022, she’ll be speaking on the 10-year action plan the New Zealand Government released for the food and fibre sector roadmap: Fit for a Better World – Accelerating our Economic Potential.

Investor and award-winning author Ramez Naam is set to speak at E Tipu on climate change, and the implications it has on the primary sector. As an advocate for clean energy and climate resilience, Ramez invests in early to mid stage startups addressing global grand challenges and working to improve the state of the world.

Ramez was one of the first to forecast the incredible price decline in clean energy. His seminal 2011 Scientific American article, Smaller, Cheaper, Faster observed that the price of solar power was dropping exponentially and would eventually be lower than that of any other energy source.  He regularly speaks on energy, climate and resource issues in dozens of countries around the world.

Adding to the list of local talent speaking at the summit is renowned Aotearoa agribusiness leader, Lain Jager. Lain is best known for his time with the hugely successful kiwifruit marketer Zespri where he was CEO from 2008 to 2017. He is credited for taking the kiwifruit industry from crisis to global success — now supplying 32% of global trade.

In 2017, Lain was named the Ravensdown Agricultural Communicator of the Year, an award which honours those who make a significant contribution to the sector and the role they play in making New Zealand world leaders in primary production. Today, Lain is involved in a range of investment projects in tourism and agribusiness, serves as a director on several boards, and acts as a strategic advisor to a small number of companies.

With over 25 international and local speakers, interactive workshops, innovative workshops and valuable cross-sector networking, E Tipu is the ultimate place to connect, network and collaborate on solutions for the food and fibre sector.
