Jeremy Hill PhD, MNZM

Chief Science and Technology Officer, Fonterra

 

Jeremy Hill is recognised globally for his leadership in the dairy sector. He has worked for Fonterra for over 30 years, the last 15 as Fonterra’s Chief Science and Technology Officer. In the 2020 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was bestowed by HRH Queen Elizabeth II as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to science and industry.

As Chairman of the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium and a member of the Board of the NZ Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre, Jeremy actively drives research in these crucial areas. He established the Sustainable Nutrition Initiative at Massey University, where he holds an Adjunct Professorship and mentors future food science leaders. Between 2012 and 2016, he served as President and Chairman of the Board of the International Dairy Federation (IDF).

With over 100 published scientific papers and involvement in over 20 patent families, Jeremy has had a profound impact on the dairy industry. His journey in the industry has taken him around the world, and he encourages aspiring scientists to join the mission of positively transforming our food systems and environment.
