Finn Ross

Co-chair, Future Farmers

Finn Ross is a naturalist, climate activist and adventurer. Finn is the co-chair of Future Farmers New Zealand, an initiative backed by young farmers in Aotearoa focused on inspiring a new narrative β€” where farmers are not just business owners, but custodians of our whenua.

Finn is the founder of Carbonz, and has previously founded The Seaweed Solution, Bomb Bucha; and co-founded the not-for-profit Let Them Fish. He also hosts the Both Sides Now political podcast, and sits on the scientific advisory board of the Kelp Forest Foundation. Academically, Finn is a current PhD candidate at Deakin University investigating seaweed as a natural climate solution, and his background includes an honours degree from the University of Canterbury and a Provost Scholarship from the University of California Davis, where he studied Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology.

Finn is from Lake Hawea Station, the first certified carbon-zero farm in Australasia, and is highly passionate about a regenerative food and fibre sector. He aims to make a difference by advocating for rapid systemic change to address the climate crisis. If he could have one superpower, he’d choose the ability to turn methane into water.
