E Tipu 2021 addresses how we can do better with announcement of final speakers

E Tipu: 2021 The Boma Agri Summit addresses how we can recognise and create opportunities to do better in agriculture with the addition of three new speakers: leading scientist and founder of Future Crunch, Tané Hunter, founder of Bead and Proceed, Bridget Williams, and regenerative wool game-changer Dave Maslen of NZ Merino.

Tané, Bridget and Dave are renowned in their different fields. Tané has a background in science, Bridget in law and Dave in the agribusiness market. Each champion change and innovation for the future good of the sector.

Tané Hunter is a Melbourne-based scientist, researcher and co-founder of Future Crunch, a group of scientists, artists, technologists and entrepreneurs who believe in collaboration and optimism for the future which is firmly rooted in science.

Tané is also co-founder of Lighthouse Data Science and a renowned cancer researcher, bioinformatician and science communicator working with big data in the biological realm. He is currently completing his PhD at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

Bridget Williams is the founder of Bead and Proceed: a social enterprise that exists to educate people about the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

After practicing as a lawyer for three years, Bridget founded Bead and Proceed to grow a community of people who are passionate about achieving the agenda’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

She is a World Economic Forum global shaper, curator of the Christchurch Hub and currently in her third term as an elected community board member representing the Fendalton, Waimairi and Harewood Ward.

Dave Maslen is general manager for markets and sustainability at NZ Merino and a strong advocate for sustainability and innovation within the New Zealand wool industry. He has been instrumental in many initiatives, including exporting New Zealand's largest supply of ethically sourced wool to the world and an investigation into the impact of wool through Lifecycle Assessment.

In 2007 Dave developed the ZQ merino wool certification standard to help people understand that their textile choices can reflect their values, including animal welfare, environmental integrity and social responsibility.

Held at Christchurch Town Hall on May 11-12, E Tipu 2021 brings together people, knowledge and innovation from across the primary sector, providing a platform to be more innovative, profitable, sustainable and collaborative.
