Boma New Zealand confirms leading visionary, journalist and professor for agri summit

E Tipu 2021: The Boma NZ Agri Summit fuses creativity and science with the announcement of visionary artist Daan Roosegaarde and professor Wim de Koning as guest speakers. Tying together the powerful line-up is Louisa Burwood-Taylor, founder of Agri Investor, a one-of-a-kind publication devoted to investment in the sector — because big ideas, whether they’re based in art or science, all need finance.

Daan Roosegaarde is celebrated Dutch artist, innovator and founder of Studio Roosegaarde, where “art meets science.”

Some of his remarkable artworks to date include the phenomenal Smog Free Project in Beijing, a tower that filters its surrounding atmosphere, then converts pollutants to jewelry; Presence, an interactive dance floor that uses energy from dancers to create electricity and GROW, an ode to the beauty of agriculture using a combination of LED lights, UV and specific wavelengths to help crops grow while reducing the need for pesticides.

Daan is a young global leader at the World Economic Forum, a visiting professor at several universities, was selected by Forbes and Good 100 as a creative change maker and named Artist of the Year 2016 in The Netherlands.

Louisa Burwood-Taylor is a passionate and knowledgeable food and agriculture journalist at AgFunder, an online venture capital platform investing in bold, exceptional entrepreneurs revolutionizing the food and agriculture industries.

She’s also the founder of the pioneering agri-tech publication Agri Investor — the first publication dedicated to investment in the sector.

Wim de Koning is executive director at B.linc Innovation, a course director at Lincoln University and co-founder of the groundbreaking Lincoln University Energy Farm, as well as a visiting professor at various international universities.

He is a valued leader and creator within the sustainable agri-food industry space, with extensive global experience in the sales and marketing of fast-moving consumer goods in both human and animal nutrition.

Over two days at Christchurch Town Hall on May 11–12, E Tipu 2021 weaves together new trends, innovative tech and exponential changes affecting Aotearoa’s primary industry to help navigate how we can adapt our food and fibre sectors to be more innovative, sustainable, collaborative, and profitable now and in the future.
