Agritech Taskforce announced as Foundation Partner for Boma NZ agri summit

The New Zealand Government Agritech Taskforce has been announced as Foundation Partner for E Tipu 2021: The Boma NZ Agri Summit, bringing with them heavyweight knowledge and support for initiatives, innovation and opportunity across Aotearoa’s agritech sector.

A coalition of cross-government agencies including Callaghan Innovation, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), the Agritech Taskforce supports growth and attracts investment for New Zealand’s agritech sector through their Agritech Industry Transformation Plan (ITP).

The Agritech Taskforce recognises that ngā hangarau ahuwhenua, or agricultural technology, is essential in increasing the productivity and sustainability of our primary industries.

The Taskforce’s drive to accelerate productivity and COVID-19 recovery, as well as their commitment to enhancing the industry, make this a powerful partnering for E Tipu 2021.

MBIE, Agritech ITP Lead, David Downs, says of the E Tipu foundation partnership, “We see opportunity to support growth and collaboration in the agri-food sector, through an event that acts as a catalyst for action and connects different parts of the ecosystem and Aotearoa to a global context.

“Globally oriented events and opportunities to connect are more vital than ever in today’s world, when travelling overseas is severely constrained. E Tipu provides a platform for engagement (virtual and in person) for global participants and New Zealand companies alike, with a focus on the significant challenges and opportunities that agritech can play a part in solving.”

Bringing the Agritech Taskforce’s valuable networks, connections and know-how to E Tipu will ensure the door is held open for those with big, bright ideas in the local and global agritech market.

Boma New Zealand CEO Kaila Colbin says, "Agritech is right at the heart of any conversation about the primary sector. We're grateful to partner with the Agritech Taskforce to enhance and amplify the good work that's already being done to bring people together and chart a course for the future of food and fibre in Aotearoa New Zealand."

Held at the Christchurch Town Hall on May 11–12, E Tipu 2021 together with the Agritech Taskforce will break ground in transformational thinking, collaboration, innovation and possibility in the primary sector.
