Agritech thought leader, food systems icon and legendary business journalist confirmed for E Tipu 2022

E Tipu speakers represent a vast and varied group with a few things in common: they’re highly credible, they’re superb communicators, and they’ve got something important to say.

Above all, they have one clear focus: how can we support our food and fibre sectors to succeed?

Let us introduce you to our first batch of speakers for E Tipu 2022.

Arama Kukutai (Ngāti Maniapoto, Tainui, Te Aupōuri) is rewriting the rules of agriculture. His expertise in venture investing for agrifood technology stems from over 20 years of experience as an investor, company founder, and entrepreneur in the agribusiness sector.

Arama is the co-founder and partner of Finistere Ventures — Aotearoa fund, one of the pioneering venture firms dedicated to agrifood investment. He’s also CEO of Plenty, a US-based vertical farming company with a team of growers, plant scientists, engineers, artists, foodies and plant romantics working to improve the lives of plants, people and the planet.

Hannah Tucker is a food systems icon exploring disruptive developments and how to best ride the wave of change. As director of UK-based Balance Point Advisory, she advises clients on sustainability strategy and communications, food systems, and aligning investment portfolios with sustainability and disruption.

In 2017, Hannah began Disruption Dinner — a culinary adventure where stories of each drink and dish stem from research into climate and technology. The aim of this venture is to reframe the narrative on climate change, using food as a way of turning otherwise complex and abstract changes into tangible and deeply personal ones.

Rod Oram is a legendary business journalist, author, public speaker — and our E Tipu 2022 MC. He brings more than 40 years of experience as an international business journalist. The key themes of his work revolve around sustainability, business, economics and innovation. A member of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship (EHF), he supports the EHF mission of incubating solutions to global problems from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Rod is an award-winning columnist for Newsroom and business commentator for Newstalk ZB. In 2019, he was named both NZ Journalist of the Year and winner of Citi Journalism Awards for Excellence award in the general business category for Australia and New Zealand.

As a national event with global reach, E Tipu connects Aotearoa’s food and fibre sector with the world — bringing together speakers and changemakers to ignite vital conversations, eye-opening insights, and meaningful change. You can book ahead for 21-22 June with confidence with our comprehensive COVID-safe plan and refund policy in place.
