Boma and IFAMA join forces to create the E Tipu IFAMA 2023 World Conference

Confirmed for 17–20 June 2023 in Ōtautahi Christchurch and virtually, the E Tipu IFAMA 2023 World Conference is set to connect, inspire and galvanise primary sector communities in Aotearoa and around the world.

Formed in 2019, E Tipu: The Boma Agri Summit has quickly become a critical platform for informed, thoughtful, future-focused dialogue around the issues that really matter for Oceania’s primary industries.

Meanwhile, for more than 33 years, the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) has welcomed the world’s leading scholars, industry professionals, and policymakers to their IFAMA World Conferences.

Now, Boma and IFAMA are joining forces to create Aotearoa’s largest and most comprehensive primary sector conference.

Building on the momentum of previous years, the E Tipu IFAMA 2023 World Conference is bigger and bolder — with more reach, virtual integration, participation and partnership opportunities than ever before.

Attendees of the joint conference have the option of experiencing up to five days of ground-breaking insights, each tackling the conference’s central theme of Transforming the Global Food & Fibre System.

The conference includes:

  • an Academic Research Symposium (17-18 June);

  • a Global Student Case Competition (17-18 June);

  • a Global Forum (19-20 June);

  • and an optional add-on of field trips showcasing local innovation (21 June).

The first two days feature an Academic Symposium and agribusiness-specific Global Student Case Competition — the only of its kind globally — providing students and their universities a world stage to showcase future primary sector leaders.

The Global Forum then takes place over two days, wielding E Tipu’s legacy by bringing together remarkable speakers and changemakers from around the world to share mind-blowing insights, ignite vital conversations, and help shape the future of our primary industries.

In addition to talks from local and global primary sector leaders, the Global Forum includes expert panels and special Q&As, action-oriented workshops, innovative exhibits, valuable cross-sector networking, a VIP reception evening, and more.

An additional day of field trips showcasing local producers and ag innovations round out the conference.

Boma founder and CEO Kaila Colbin says, “We feel extremely fortunate to be collaborating with IFAMA, and the long-standing leadership and a global perspective they bring to the sector. By joining forces with them, our hope is to create something bigger and more impactful than either of us could do on our own.”

 “E Tipu: The Boma Agri Summit already attracts top-tier stakeholders in Oceania who are working to improve the agri-food sector, “says Kathryn White, Executive Director of IFAMA.

“This is a perfect match for our members, and others in our network, who want to learn the latest and best practices evolving in the region while also contributing to those discussions through sharing their experiences and solutions,” says White.
